Credit Card Chargebacks: All You Need to Know
Credit card chargebacks are the bane of merchants everywhere! And why won’t it be, when it means that a payment has been reversed. Imagine expecting some funds in your bank account and waiting for days on end before realizing that a credit card chargeback has occurred. This can be a very frustrating experience, especially if it occurs one time too many!
Let’s dive into some reasons why chargebacks occur:
1. Dispute - If you have gotten one too many complaints about item not received by your buyers and you may suffer from numerous chargebacks. You should also ensure your items are not defective. Being accused of inducing fraudulent purchases is not a very nice thing.
2. Processing errors - Whether it was intentional or not (and we hope it’s not), customers who are wrongfully charged may ignite the warming signals for credit card processors.
3. Authorization problems - Were there issues where credit card authorization is concerned?
4. Unfulfilled copy requests - If there were, you are encouraged to solve these issues immediately to avoid being slapped with a chargeback.
Most merchants get very frustrated because they find that they have very little control over this matter. However, we think that if you act proactively to cope with chargebacks, you can definitely sleep a little easier at night
