14 July 2010 No Comment

If you are a card holder of MasterCard™ and you often use your credit card to purchase stuff on the internet, then MasterCard MBNA credit card protection is really important for you. Bank of America has already acquired MBNA, but there are still many cardholders in some parts of the world who have cards labeled by MBNA.

MasterCard through Bank of America

If you live within the United States, you cannot apply for a MasterCard through MBNA because now Bank of America has its ownership. So whenever you have to apply for a MasterCard, you’ll have to apply for it through the Bank of America, not through MBNA. The cards issued by MBNA are now owned and served by the Bank of America.

You’ll find a good range of MasterCard products while ordering a MasterCard credit card at the website of Bank of America. Also, there are other products of different companies like Visa.

MasterCard MBNA Internet Credit Card Protection is Important

A very important concern that online shoppers have, is they might get their very confidential information leaked out online. Many people fear providing card details to a website, considering it to be risky at best. Acres of newspaper coverage on online frauds have hammered this fear into the minds of the common man. They fear that the information may get stolen by a hacker, causing huge trouble for that card holder as the hacker may go on a shopping spree. Companies like MasterCard, Visa and Discover have responded to this public security concern and now many of these companies offer some kind of security for people shopping on the internet.

Bank of America has already presented its “Total Security Protection” program by which, all credit card issued by Bank of America and originated by MBNA, are covered. Here are two of the many security features, offered by this program, which protect the cardholders from online fraud and miss-use of their personal information.

No Liability

If you own a MasterCard credit card, issued by Bank of America, and someone illegally makes a purchase on the internet or offline, using your card, then the amount of the purchase will be reimbursed by Bank of America.

Password Protection

This is really a great feature from security point of view. You can set a master password for you credit card which makes it almost impractical for a thief or hacker to use your card without authorization. But to use this feature, you have to choose your password wisely. While choosing a password, follow standard practices like using capital letters, numbers, etc to make it difficult to guess. As told above, if someone makes an unauthorized purchase from you card; you’ll get your money back from Bank of America. But if you get your password stolen or hacked, then it would be very difficult for you to retrieve any information.

So go ahead and get MBNA protection. You might just save thousands of dollars in the future, not to mention the stress it takes off you.
